In newer versions of the software, EEGer will automatically configure itself for most amplifiers. This streamlines the process of getting started with EEGer and makes it easier to change amplifiers.
Older versions of the software require the amplifier to be configured manually by the user. We recommend updating the software to its latest version to benefit from automatic amplifier detection. For instructions on how to update to the latest version, please see this article for instructions.
When EEGer is opened, it will check to see if an EEG amplifier is connected to the computer. If an amplifier is found, EEGer will configure itself for that amplifier and inform the user that a change has been made. If a different model of amplifier is found than what has been configured, the user will be notified that EEGer has changed the amplifier configuration to match the new amplifier.
The automatic selection of amplifiers is a new feature in the software, meaning there are limitations in its current implementation. One of these limitations is that multiple amplifiers 'look' the same to EEGer, so it is unable to identify the specific model that may be connected to the computer. When this happens, EEGer will choose the most common model within that amplifier group and inform the user that an adjustment may be needed. Additionally, the user must enter any required passkeys or serial numbers if using a model of amplifier that requires this information to be entered.
Note: In EEGer4 440x, there are configuration issues with some specific models of devices. For more information and troubleshooting information, see these articles:
Manual configuration is only required once, after which EEGer will remember the configured amplifier (unless a different type of amplifier is connected in the future).
First, ensure that the amplifier is connected to the computer. Once the amplifier is connected to the computer, close and reopen EEGer. Observe if the amplifier is properly configured during startup.
If issues persist, there may be a driver issue. To correct this, see the articles included below.

Note: If the Neurobit Optima is not selectable from the options menu, see this article.
